What this actually does

The words with their emphasis — bold, italic, type size and typeface, read from the fonts the PDF actually used — in paragraphs, headings, lists and tables, on paper the size of the original, with the pictures carried across. Editable, which is the point. It is not a visual clone: a multi-column page is flattened into reading order, and text colour and exact positions are not carried. A PDF that is only scanned images has no text to recover; run OCR first.
