What this actually does

Read this one before you use it. It writes the XMP metadata, the output intent and the document-id that PDF/A requires, and strips encryption, which is most of what archiving asks for. It cannot embed a font the original left out, so a PDF relying on a system font will not pass a strict validator. If a registry demands certified PDF/A, validate the result with veraPDF before filing it.
