What this actually does
Real redaction: the marked page is redrawn as an image with the black boxes burnt in, so the covered words are not merely hidden — they are no longer in the file. The cost is that a redacted page stops being selectable text, so choose a resolution you would be happy to print. Pages you did not mark are left untouched, text and all. Nothing of the original’s title, author or other properties is carried over either — a redacted name often sits in those too.
